Temporary Cover Supervisor for Secondary Schools

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Cover Supervisor to provide short‑term teaching cover across secondary schools in Surrey and West Sussex. This temporary position offers the chance to gain valuable classroom experience while supporting schools during teacher absences.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver pre‑planned lessons in the absence of the regular teacher.
• Maintain classroom order, discipline and a positive learning environment.
• Prepare teaching materials and set up any required equipment.
• Monitor student progress and provide feedback where appropriate.
• Adapt teaching approaches to suit the needs of different classes.

Required profile

• Experience working with secondary‑age pupils is highly advantageous.
• Strong desire to enter the teaching profession or gain further education experience.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Ability to manage classroom behaviour effectively.
• Willingness to travel between schools in Surrey and West Sussex.
