About the role

Cover People is supporting a secondary school in Bury to recruit a Temporary English Teacher from September 2026. The role involves teaching English Language and Literature to KS3 and GCSE students, fostering a love of reading, writing and communication.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging English lessons aligned with the national curriculum.
• Assess, monitor and record student progress across KS3 and GCSE.
• Create an inclusive, positive classroom environment.
• Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners.
• Support pupils’ academic, personal and social development.
• Contribute to departmental initiatives and curriculum development.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent UK teaching qualification.
• Experience teaching English at KS3 and GCSE level.
• Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
• Passion for English and raising student attainment.
• Excellent communication and organisational abilities.
• Right to work in the UK.
