About the role
We are seeking a Kitchen Assistant/Cook for a six‑week temporary assignment at The Bungalow Children’s Home in Eastbourne. You will be responsible for preparing nutritious meals for children and staff in a residential setting, supporting a vulnerable population with complex needs.
Key responsibilities
- Plan, prepare and cook main meals in line with dietary requirements and nutritional standards.
- Maintain high standards of food hygiene and kitchen safety, following cleaning schedules and regulations.
- Manage kitchen inventory, order ingredients and stock supplies online.
- Ensure the kitchen environment remains clean, safe and compliant.
- Collaborate with staff to support children’s wellbeing through quality meals.
Required profile
- Previous experience in a cooking or catering role.
- Good knowledge of food hygiene and kitchen safety standards.
- Ability to work independently and organise kitchen duties.
- Understanding of confidentiality and safeguarding in a children’s care setting.
Required skills
- Food Hygiene (Level 2 or above) certification.
