Temporary Residential Support Worker – Children’s Home

About the role

We are seeking compassionate individuals to join a children’s residential home in Horley on a temporary basis. As a Residential Support Worker you will help create a safe, nurturing environment where young people can develop confidence and independence.

Key responsibilities

• Assist residents with daily routines, life‑skills and personal care.
• Build trusting relationships and provide emotional guidance.
• Promote independence through cooking, cleaning, budgeting and household tasks.
• Organise leisure activities and support social development.
• Manage challenging behaviours consistently and professionally.
• Maintain accurate records and produce required reports.
• Collaborate with social workers, families and other professionals while adhering to safeguarding procedures.

Required profile

• Previous experience in residential, care, education, youth work or similar settings.
• Strong communication and relationship‑building abilities.
• Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection practices.
• Positive, proactive attitude with a solution‑focused mindset.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Required skills

• Good written and record‑keeping skills.
