Temporary Secondary School Cover Supervisor

About the role

This temporary position supports secondary schools across Surrey and West Sussex by covering lessons when regular teachers are absent. It is ideal for candidates with experience teaching secondary‑age pupils or those looking to start a career in education.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver pre‑planned work and maintain the curriculum flow during teacher absence.
• Prepare teaching materials and set up any required equipment before lessons.
• Monitor student progress, provide feedback, and adapt teaching methods to suit diverse classes.
• Maintain classroom order, manage behaviour, and create a constructive learning environment.
• Travel between schools in Surrey and West Sussex as required.

Required profile

• Experience working with secondary‑age pupils is highly advantageous.
• Strong desire to enter the teaching profession or gain further educational experience.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Capability to manage classrooms effectively.
• Flexibility to travel to multiple school sites.
