Tenancy Relations Officer

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Tenancy Relations Officer to join a public sector housing service in South London. The role focuses on protecting tenants from unlawful eviction and harassment while supporting residents to maintain their housing.

Key responsibilities

• Investigate complaints of illegal eviction, harassment and unlawful landlord practices.
• Provide advice and guidance to tenants, landlords, agents and partner organisations.
• Manage a varied caseload, conduct investigations, gather evidence and produce reports.
• Carry out home visits and attend court proceedings as a witness when required.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external agencies such as solicitors, police and housing partners.
• Support homelessness prevention by helping residents remain in or regain accommodation.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of housing legislation, including landlord and tenant law, homelessness legislation and the Protection from Eviction Act.
• Experience investigating tenancy‑related complaints and managing complex casework.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and customer service skills.
• Ability to gather and assess evidence and make sound decisions.
• Experience working with vulnerable residents and handling sensitive situations.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently under a demanding workload.
