Test Manager – Contract (Edinburgh)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Test Manager to lead the testing function for a large public‑sector transformation programme in Edinburgh. You will be the sole testing specialist, responsible for designing and executing an end‑to‑end testing approach across business and technical workstreams.

Key responsibilities

• Define, implement and own the overall testing strategy for a multi‑year transformation programme.
• Establish test governance, reporting and defect‑management processes.
• Develop test plans, scenarios, entry and exit criteria and choose appropriate testing methodologies.
• Collaborate with the Technical Business Analyst and programme stakeholders to ensure comprehensive test coverage.
• Coordinate testing activities across multiple workstreams, third‑party partners and delivery teams.
• Support go‑live planning and readiness, confirming all testing deliverables are completed.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Test Manager, preferably on large‑scale transformation, migration or organisational change programmes.
• Demonstrated ability to set up and lead a testing function, often as the primary or sole testing resource.
• Strong background in creating test strategies, governance frameworks and defect‑management processes.
• Experience testing systems, processes, data migrations and operational readiness activities.
• Excellent communication skills with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Experience in the public sector or highly regulated environments is a plus.

• Day rate of £400‑£600.
