Theatre ODP – Anaesthetics (Full‑time)

About the role

Join the Theatre department at Tees Valley Hospital in Middlesbrough as a Scrub Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) specialising in anaesthetics. You will work in state‑of‑the‑art theatres, supporting anaesthetic teams during a range of orthopaedic procedures and contributing to high‑quality patient care.

Key responsibilities

• Provide scrub support for anaesthetic cases, ensuring all instruments and equipment are prepared and maintained.
• Assist in orthopaedic surgeries including hip and knee arthroplasty and anterior cruciate ligament procedures.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anaesthetists and nursing staff to maintain a safe and efficient theatre environment.
• Adhere to infection control standards and operate within laminar airflow theatres.

Required profile

• HCPC registration with no restrictions.
• Proven surgical scrub experience in orthopaedics.
• Desirable but not essential: Surgical First Assist (SFA) qualification.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Flexible, positive attitude and empathetic character.

Required skills

• Surgical scrub experience in orthopaedic procedures (hip arthroplasty, knee arthroplasty, ACL reconstruction).
