Theatre Scrub Practitioner – Orthopaedics & Ophthalmology

About the role

Join the dedicated Theatre team at The Cherwell Hospital as a Theatre Scrub Practitioner, supporting orthopaedic and ophthalmic procedures. This permanent, full‑time position offers a supportive environment where high‑quality patient care is the priority.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain a sterile field for orthopaedic and ophthalmic surgeries.
• Assist the surgical team by passing instruments, sutures, and supplies efficiently.
• Ensure compliance with infection control standards and hospital protocols.
• Collaborate with nurses, surgeons, and other theatre staff to facilitate smooth operations.
• Maintain accurate documentation of surgical supplies and equipment.

Required profile

• Current NMC or HCPC registration with no restrictions.
• Proven surgical scrub experience in orthopaedics and/or ophthalmology.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Flexible, positive attitude with a warm and empathetic approach to patients.

Required skills

• Surgical scrub techniques for orthopaedic procedures.
• Surgical scrub techniques for ophthalmic procedures.
• Knowledge of sterile field management.
