Therapeutic Mentor (Teaching Assistant)

About the role
Reed Education, in partnership with a specialist therapeutic education setting, is seeking a compassionate Therapeutic Mentor to support young people aged 11‑18. This long‑term temporary‑to‑permanent position starts in September 2026 and offers the chance to make a lasting impact on students’ emotional wellbeing and academic progress.
Key responsibilities
- Build strong, positive, professional relationships with students.
- Provide consistent support inside and outside the classroom.
- Promote emotional wellbeing and positive behaviour strategies.
- Encourage engagement in education and personal development activities.
- Collaborate with teaching staff, therapists and other professionals.
- Help create a safe, nurturing learning environment.
- Support students in developing life skills, confidence and independence.
Required profile
- Experience working with young people in education, youth work, mentoring, coaching, care or support settings.
- Patient, empathetic and adaptable approach.
- Strong communication and relationship‑building abilities.
- Ability to remain calm and resilient in challenging situations.
- Genuine passion for supporting young people to achieve their potential.
