Therapeutic Mentor (Temporary to Permanent)

About the role

Reed Education, in partnership with a specialist therapeutic education setting, is seeking a compassionate Therapeutic Mentor to support young people aged 11‑18. The role starts in September 2026 on a long‑term temporary contract with the prospect of becoming permanent. You will work closely with students throughout the school day, helping them build confidence, emotional resilience and a positive attitude towards learning.

Key responsibilities

• Build strong, trusting relationships with each student.
• Provide consistent support inside and outside the classroom.
• Promote emotional wellbeing and positive behaviour strategies.
• Encourage engagement in academic and personal development activities.
• Collaborate with teachers, therapists and other professionals.
• Help create a safe, nurturing learning environment.
• Support the development of life skills, independence and confidence.

Required profile

• Experience working with young people in education, youth work, mentoring, coaching, care or support settings.
• Patient, empathetic and adaptable approach.
• Strong communication and relationship‑building abilities.
• Ability to stay calm and resilient in challenging situations.
• Genuine passion for helping young people achieve their potential.
