Thermal Applications Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Thermal Applications Engineer to join a leading precision engineering and manufacturing organisation in London. The role focuses on delivering bespoke thermal and hydraulic solutions for data‑centre environments, supporting both pre‑sales and post‑sales activities.

Key responsibilities

• Provide expert technical support for custom engineering solutions in hyperscale, colocation and enterprise data centres.
• Act as the customer‑facing authority, bridging requirements with internal engineering, product management and manufacturing teams.
• Deliver remote assistance during installation, commissioning and troubleshooting of cooling systems.
• Review and advise on mechanical, thermal and hydraulic designs, producing recommendations and optimisation strategies.
• Prepare technical presentations, workshops and training for customers and partners.
• Support sales teams with proposals, RFQs and RFP responses, and conduct thermal and hydraulic analysis to validate performance.
• Participate in pilot projects, proof‑of‑concept deployments and field trials, feeding back insights to R&D.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Thermal or Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• 3–7 years of experience in data‑centre infrastructure, including cooling, racks and power systems.
• Hands‑on experience with liquid cooling technologies and direct‑to‑chip or rear‑door heat exchangers.
• Familiarity with hyperscale, colocation or enterprise customers and relevant EU safety and environmental regulations.
