Third Party Claims Handler

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Third Party Claims Handler to join a growing commercial motor insurance specialist in Manchester city centre. The role offers the chance to deepen technical expertise in defendant motor claims while taking full ownership of a diverse caseload.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a full third‑party motor claims caseload from initial report to settlement.
• Investigate incidents, determine liability, and gather supporting evidence.
• Review and negotiate payment packs from third parties, representatives and garages pre‑litigation.
• Liaise with police, investigators and other parties to establish facts.
• Apply case law and pre‑litigation arguments to support claim decisions.

Required profile

• Proven experience handling third‑party motor claims, preferably from a defendant perspective.
• Background in Credit Hire, Total Loss, ULR and FNOL within an insurer, solicitor or MGA environment.
• Familiarity with OIC and MOJ portals and experience with personal injury and property damage claims.
• Ability to manage high‑value claims exceeding £50,000 and complex files.
• Strong phone communication skills and confidence in assessing liability.
