Town Planner – Newcastle

About the role

We're working with a highly respected independent planning consultancy looking to appoint a Town Planner to join their growing Newcastle office. This is an excellent opportunity for a planner with consultancy or local authority experience who is looking to work on a broad range of high‑profile projects across the North East and wider UK. You will join a collaborative and well‑established team advising on a diverse portfolio of residential, commercial, mixed‑use, leisure and regeneration schemes.

Key responsibilities

• Preparing and submitting planning applications and appeals
• Undertaking site appraisals and planning research
• Liaising with clients, local authorities and key stakeholders
• Assisting with strategic planning advice and project delivery
• Supporting senior team members on major development projects
• Attending meetings, committee hearings and public consultations where required

Required profile

• Degree qualified in Town Planning or a related discipline
• MRTPI qualified or working towards chartership
• Previous experience within a consultancy or local authority environment
• Strong report writing and communication skills
• Commercial awareness and a proactive approach to client service
• Ability to manage workloads and deadlines effectively
