Trade Compliance Coordinator – Freight

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Trade Compliance Coordinator to join the Key Accounts team of a leading international logistics and freight forwarding organisation. The role supports the movement of goods across borders while ensuring full customs compliance and provides guidance on UK import requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Classify products using correct tariff and commodity codes.
• Prepare customs documentation and declarations for import and export shipments.
• Audit customs entries to ensure compliance with UK import and export legislation.
• Liaise with HMRC on customs procedures and compliance matters.
• Maintain CITES records, including uploading import and re‑export certificates.
• Produce KPI reports and management information within agreed deadlines.
• Create and maintain standard operating procedures and process documentation.
• Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and carry out regular compliance checks.

Required profile

• Previous experience in customs, trade compliance or freight forwarding.
• Strong knowledge of UK and EU customs regulations.
• Good understanding of commodity codes, tariffs, customs valuation, Incoterms and rules of origin.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines.
• Ability to work independently while also being a collaborative team player.
• Monday to Friday working hours (8:30 am – 5:30 pm).
