Trade Compliance Manager – UK & Europe

About the role

Shield AI is seeking a regional trade compliance leader for the UK and Europe. You will oversee the company’s export control program, ensuring compliance with UK and international regulations while supporting critical defense initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the primary trade compliance point of contact for the UK and coordinate regional activities across Europe.
• Review, prepare, submit and manage export authorizations through UK systems (SPIRE) and support European licensing requirements.
• Classify products, software and technical data under UK Strategic Export Control Lists and provide guidance on EU export considerations.
• Partner with engineering and program teams to translate technical specifications into compliant export classifications and licensing strategies.
• Develop and maintain audit‑ready classification and licensing documentation.
• Implement trade compliance procedures such as visitor controls, travel guidance and restricted‑party screening.

Required profile

• 5+ years of trade compliance, customs or export control experience in aerospace, defense or advanced‑technology sectors.
• Hands‑on experience with UK export control regulations and/or US ITAR/EAR frameworks, including licensing and classification.
• Proven ability to manage export authorizations and interact with regulatory bodies such as ECJU and EU member‑state authorities.
• Bachelor’s degree in Law, Business, International Trade, Supply Chain Management or a related field.
• Excellent analytical, communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
