Trademark Paralegal

About the role

Bell Cornwall Recruitment is partnering with a leading law firm to hire a highly organised and proactive Trademark Paralegal for their Intellectual Property team in Birmingham, West Midlands. The role offers the chance to work on a diverse portfolio of trademark matters within a supportive legal environment.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and maintain trademark case portfolios, monitoring deadlines and actions.
• Allocate and process incoming correspondence, directing documentation appropriately.
• Produce and maintain case diaries, reminders, extensions and standard correspondence.
• Manage fee earners' mailboxes and calendars to prioritise work effectively.
• Prepare and file UK, EU, foreign and international trademark applications.
• Maintain case management systems, records and due dates.
• Prepare invoices, billing requests and record chargeable activities.
• Assist with trademark watching services, renewals and reporting obligations.
• Support assignments, licences, name/address changes and other recordal matters.
• Conduct basic trademark searches and online research.
• Assist with opposition, revocation and invalidity proceedings under supervision.
• Liaise with internal departments such as Records, Renewals, Accounts and Administration.

Required profile

• CITMA Trade Mark Paralegal qualification or working towards it.
• Experience in a trademark, intellectual property or legal administration setting.
• Strong understanding of the trademark lifecycle, including filing, prosecution and registration.
• Knowledge of UKIPO, EUIPO and WIPO procedures.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Experience with IP management systems such as Inprotech (desirable).
