Trader Assistant – Investment Desk – Hedge Fund

About the role

We are partnering with a leading hedge fund that is expanding its European footprint. The firm is seeking a Trader Assistant to join its London investment desk, supporting a high‑volume, multi‑strategy book and working closely with senior traders. The position is fully on‑site in London and offers direct exposure to the fund’s core trading activities.

Key responsibilities

• Book trades and maintain accurate records for a diverse range of instruments.
• Perform risk, P&L and attribution analysis and produce regular reports.
• Interact directly with market participants and support head traders on ad‑hoc projects.
• Assist with data preparation for performance and compliance monitoring.
• Coordinate with technology and compliance teams to ensure seamless trade execution.

Required profile

• 5–10 years of experience in a trader assistant or middle‑office role within a hedge fund or investment bank.
• Strong academic background, preferably from an Ivy‑League‑equivalent institution.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a fast‑paced, high‑pressure environment.

Required skills

• Broad knowledge of derivatives products.

What we offer

• Base salary in the £80‑120 k range, with a variable component of 50‑100 % of base.
