Trading Assistant Merchandiser

About the role

JD is looking for a Trading Assistant Merchandiser for its Bury head office, working within the Merchandising department. The role is responsible to the Merchandiser and supports the team by optimising trade performance to maximise sales and profit. It is described as a 75/25 split between current and future duties.

Key responsibilities

• Review weekly trade performance and give key messages to the Merchandiser
• Identify areas of focus and build an action plan covering top/key stores, new/re-fit stores, under-performing stores, intensive care stores and seasonality, and trading events
• Support the Merchandiser in preparing key event planning so store attributes match performance expectations
• Liaise with Retail and collate pre-pack data
• Analyse market lessons learned from major trading events and review quarterly store and product performance
• Review retail feedback across markets and attend retail conference calls, taking minutes
• Attend store visits, create and run an action plan to improve sales, manage store stock builds and produce store closure plans
• Analyse trade impact and store optimisation performance and answer ad hoc retail requests

Required profile

• Experience in a similar role is advantageous
• Experience in a sports or fashion retailer is advantageous
• Highly numerate with a strong commercial focus
• Highly organised, with good prioritisation and time management
• Self-motivated, proactive and curious, with a continuous learning mindset

• Computer literate and able to learn new systems
• Ability to work independently, take ownership and share information with colleagues
