Traffic Officer – Milnthorpe Outstation

About the role

National Highways is recruiting Traffic Officers for its Milness Outstation in Milnthorpe. You will join a 24/7 team that manages incidents on the strategic road network, ensuring safe and timely responses to collisions, debris, and other unplanned events.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to and resolve road traffic incidents, including collisions and debris removal.
• Deploy traffic management measures and coordinate with emergency services and other responders.
• Communicate scene updates using radio and mobile telephony to colleagues, partners and stakeholders.
• Maintain personal and public safety by reporting unsafe conditions and following safety procedures.
• Keep accurate records of vehicles, equipment and incident details.

Required profile

• Full UK driving licence with no more than three penalty points.
• Residence within a 45‑minute commute of Milnthorpe.
• Experience of motorway driving and a strong safety mindset.
• Ability to deliver high‑quality customer service and work independently.
• Self‑motivated team player who can operate unsupervised.
