Trainee Accountant – Client‑Facing Role with Study Support

About the role

We are a growing chartered practice in East Sussex looking for a motivated Trainee Accountant. You will work directly with a portfolio of small‑business clients, visiting them on site, handling their bookkeeping and supporting their growth while studying towards a professional qualification.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a dedicated group of clients via phone, email and face‑to‑face meetings.
• Visit client premises to update records and discuss business performance.
• Perform day‑to‑day bookkeeping, prepare VAT returns and operate Making Tax Digital.
• Produce management information and assist with year‑end processes.

Required profile

• Genuine interest in small‑business accounting.
• Confident communicator comfortable making phone calls.
• Organised, accurate and able to juggle several clients.
• Full driving licence and access to a car for client visits.
• Willingness to commit to studying; prior bookkeeping or AAT experience is a plus but not essential.
