Trainee Accountant

About the role

We are seeking a motivated trainee accountant to join our Leeds office. This role offers a solid foundation in practice accounting while you continue your professional studies, working closely with senior team members on a variety of client engagements.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare statutory accounts for a range of clients.
• Support the preparation of VAT returns and management accounts.
• Perform bookkeeping and maintain accurate financial records.
• Assist with corporation tax and personal tax compliance.
• Provide payroll processing support.
• Utilise cloud accounting software such as Xero for client work.
• Help with client onboarding and system setup.
• Respond to client queries under supervision.

Required profile

• Some practice experience is preferred.
• Basic knowledge of accounts, VAT and payroll.
• Studying AAT Level 4 (or equivalent).
• Planning to progress to ACCA or ACA qualifications.

• Xero (cloud accounting software)
