Trainee Air Hygiene Operative

About the role

We are seeking a motivated Trainee Air Hygiene Operative to join our team in London. Working within a busy hospital environment, you will help maintain safe air quality for patients and staff. No prior experience is required – we provide full on‑the‑job training.

Key responsibilities

• Clean, maintain and monitor air terminal devices such as vents, grilles and ductwork across multiple wards.
• Safely remove, clean and reinstall ventilation grilles using basic hand tools.
• Interact politely with ward staff and patients to minimise disruption.
• Follow strict health, safety and hospital cleanliness protocols.

Required profile

• Friendly, respectful and empathetic attitude when dealing with patients and staff.
• Reliable, punctual and attentive to detail.
• Eager to learn and ask questions.
• Willing to undergo an enhanced DBS check.

Required skills

• Basic hand‑tool operation (e.g., screwdrivers).
• Cleaning and maintenance of ventilation equipment.
• Inspection of air terminal devices.
