Trainee Bus Driver – Paid Training Programme

About the role

Join Thames Valley Buses on a 10‑week paid training programme that leads directly to a full‑time bus driver position. No prior driving experience is required – just a full UK licence with a maximum of five penalty points and a friendly, customer‑focused attitude.

Key responsibilities

• Operate modern buses safely on designated routes and schedules.
• Carry out pre‑trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance.
• Provide courteous customer service, assisting passengers and answering queries.
• Support the loading and unloading of passengers, including those needing extra help.
• Adhere to all traffic laws, safety protocols, and company policies while driving.
• Communicate effectively with controllers and team members to maintain smooth operations.

Required profile

• Valid UK driving licence with no more than five points and no endorsements.
• Good communication skills and a professional, approachable demeanor.
• Willingness to learn and follow safety procedures and company standards.
• Enthusiasm for a long‑term career in public transport.

Required skills

• PCV theory knowledge (candidates are expected to prepare using PCV theory apps).
