Trainee Engineering Stores Assistant

About the role

This is a full‑time, temporary position for a motivated individual to support the Engineering Stores Engineer in a busy manufacturing environment. You will gain hands‑on experience in stock control, documentation and logistics while working on‑site at the Whitworth factory.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Stores Engineer with daily operations of the engineering stores.
• Maintain the stock database, perform regular stock checks and update records.
• Inspect incoming deliveries, generate goods‑inward documentation and arrange outbound transport.
• Prepare project‑specific kits from Bills of Materials and manage consumables.
• Support vehicle maintenance scheduling and PPE issuance.
• Operate company vehicles for deliveries and collections, and provide holiday cover for the stores.
• Participate in forklift licence training and first‑aid certification after probation.

Required profile

• Enthusiastic, hard‑working and physically capable of manual tasks.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including early Friday shifts.

What we offer

• £14.04 per hour (visible salary).
• 37 hours per week, Monday‑Friday (7.30 am‑4 pm, Friday 7 am‑12 pm).
