Trainee Field Technician

About the role

This is a six‑month temporary position, based mainly in Bristol, supporting a major UK water provider. The role involves field work across South West England, including Cornwall, South Wales and Bournemouth, installing and maintaining flow data loggers on commercial water meters.

Key responsibilities

• Install, commission and maintain flow data loggers on commercial water meters.
• Collect, validate and upload flow data using approved systems.
• Analyse flow profiles to identify abnormal consumption and potential leakage.
• Complete accurate site records, asset updates and job documentation.
• Work safely and professionally across a range of customer sites.

Required profile

• Full UK driving licence (no more than 6 points) – a company vehicle will be provided.
• Excellent customer service skills and ability to work physically active.
• Confidence using handheld devices and laptops in the field.
• Willingness to learn; applicants from outside the water industry are welcome.
