Trainee Financial Planner – £42k + Bonus – Hybrid/Flexible – Exeter

About the role

We are seeking a motivated Trainee Financial Planner to join our established Chartered Independent Financial Planning firm in Exeter. You will receive full training and mentorship to develop into a qualified Financial Planner, managing an inherited client bank of around £40m AUM.

Key responsibilities

• Assist senior advisers in delivering holistic financial advice across pensions, investments, protection, estate and wealth planning.
• Develop client relationships under supervision, preparing recommendations and reports.
• Utilise firm‑provided technology and AI tools to streamline administration and analysis.
• Progress towards Chartered status through supported study and exam preparation.
• Maintain compliance with regulatory standards and internal policies.

Required profile

• Experience as a paraplanner or junior adviser with some client‑facing exposure.
• Strong interest in financial planning and commitment to professional development.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with a supportive team.
• Excellent communication and analytical skills.

Required skills

• Knowledge of financial products such as pensions, investments, protection and estate planning.
