Trainee History Teacher – Earn While You Teach (UK)

About the role
We are looking for an aspiring History teacher to join a secondary school in Westminster from September 2026. The role is a full‑time, salaried position on the Unqualified Teacher (UQT) scale, allowing you to earn while you gain classroom experience and work towards Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and an optional PGCE.
Key responsibilities
- Support the History department delivering KS3‑4 lessons.
- Assist with GCSE and A‑Level interventions to raise attainment.
- Teach a growing timetable, starting at around 15 periods per week and increasing to about 20.
- Participate in one dedicated training day each week.
- Contribute to the school’s improvement agenda and uphold its values.
Required profile
- Desirable degree in History or a related subject from a reputable university.
- Strong A‑Level and GCSE results in relevant subjects.
- Confidence in delivering both GCSE and A‑Level History curriculum.
- Ability to engage and motivate students.
- Commitment and ambition to succeed in teaching.
Required skills
- Knowledge of the UK History curriculum for KS3‑4, GCSE and A‑Level.
