Trainee Mechanical Engineer – Entry Level

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Trainee Mechanical Engineer to join our specialist engineering team working in the wastewater and renewable energy sectors. This full‑time position offers structured training and mentorship, giving you hands‑on experience across design, documentation, inspections and project support.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in designing and specifying mechanical components such as bearing assemblies, guards and lubrication systems.
• Create and update engineering drawings using AutoCAD or similar CAD software.
• Support preparation of equipment layouts and lifting arrangements.
• Help with inspections and technical assessments of mechanical equipment.
• Compile technical reports and project documentation.
• Obtain supplier quotations for repairs, refurbishment and replacement parts.
• Assist with material ordering and project administration.
• Develop knowledge of engineering standards, health & safety and quality procedures.

Required profile

• Studying towards or recently completed a T Level, Apprenticeship, BTEC Level 3 or equivalent in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering.
• Passionate about engineering, design and manufacturing.
• Eager to learn, detail‑oriented and able to solve problems.
• Strong communication, teamwork and time‑management skills.
• Positive attitude with a desire for a long‑term engineering career.

Required skills
