Trainee Pharmacy Dispenser

About the role

UHS Pharmacy Ltd is seeking a motivated Trainee Pharmacy Dispenser to join its outpatient pharmacy team in Southampton. You will support the delivery of a safe, effective, and high‑quality pharmacy service while gaining hands‑on experience in dispensing, stock control, and patient interaction.

Key responsibilities

• Accurately dispense and label medicines from hospital outpatient prescriptions.
• Maintain stock levels, perform inventory checks and ensure a tidy, safe work environment.
• Process prescriptions, collect charges, verify exemptions and complete required documentation for controlled drugs and specialist items.
• Provide front‑counter customer service, offering advice to patients, carers and healthcare professionals.
• Assist the Superintendent Pharmacist and Pharmacy Manager in complying with legislation, SOPs and company policies.

Required profile

• Enthusiastic about starting a career in pharmacy dispensing.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow standard operating procedures.
• Good communication skills for interacting with patients and staff.
• Willingness to work the primary shift on Sundays (10:00‑16:00) with potential additional hours.

Required skills

• Use of computer systems to generate medication labels.
