Trainee Pharmacy Dispenser

About the role

UHS Pharmacy Ltd is seeking a motivated Trainee Pharmacy Dispenser to join its outpatient pharmacy team at University Hospital Southampton. You will support the delivery of safe, effective, and high‑quality pharmacy services for patients, carers, and healthcare professionals.

Key responsibilities

• Accurately dispense and label medicines from inpatient and outpatient prescriptions.
• Maintain stock control and ensure a clean, organised work environment.
• Process prescription charges, exemptions, and related financial transactions.
• Provide front‑counter customer service and advice to patients and visitors.
• Assist the Superintendent Pharmacist and Pharmacy Manager with compliance to legislation, SOPs, and professional standards.

Required profile

• Enthusiastic about developing a career in pharmacy dispensing.
• Attention to detail and ability to follow strict procedural guidelines.
• Good communication skills for interacting with patients and staff.

Required skills

• Ability to operate pharmacy computer systems for label generation and dispensing records.
• Knowledge of basic pharmacy legislation and controlled‑drug documentation.
