Trainee Site Operative – Trenchless Technology

About the role

Join Chiltern Thrust Bore as a Trainee Site Operative and receive full training in trenchless technology, including horizontal directional drilling and guided auger boring. You will travel across the UK, work alongside experienced lead drillers, and develop the skills needed to become a qualified Driller and Auger Bore Operator.

Key responsibilities

• Assist experienced team members on trenchless projects, supporting horizontal directional drilling and guided auger boring activities.
• Complete company‑funded in‑house and off‑site training to build practical and technical expertise.
• Follow safe working practices and maintain high health‑and‑safety standards on all sites.
• Travel nationwide, staying overnight when required, and contribute to project delivery as a reliable team member.

Required profile

• Full, valid UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle for commuting to the Olney office.
• Willingness to travel extensively across the UK and stay away from home during projects.
• Positive, can‑do attitude with a genuine willingness to learn a specialist trade.
• Physical fitness suitable for outdoor, physically demanding site work.
• Fluency in verbal and written English.
