Trainee SMT Technician

About the role

The Trainee SMT Technician position is a full‑time, on‑site role based in Haywards Heath. You will join Cocom Consumer Electronics’ production team and receive comprehensive training to develop expertise in Surface Mount Technology (SMT) processes used in electronics manufacturing.

Key responsibilities

• Assemble, operate, and maintain SMT equipment such as pick‑and‑place machines and reflow ovens.
• Prepare components, PCBs and other manufacturing materials for production runs.
• Perform quality checks and inspections to ensure assembled boards meet specifications.
• Assist in troubleshooting and diagnosing faults in machinery and equipment.
• Support the production team in meeting daily output and operational targets.

Required profile

• Basic problem‑solving and fault‑diagnosis abilities.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills to coordinate with colleagues.
• Motivation to learn new technical skills and adapt to evolving manufacturing technologies.
• Prior experience in an electronics manufacturing environment is advantageous but not mandatory.

Required skills

• Handling of Surface Mount Technology (SMT) equipment.
• Familiarity with basic electronics components and PCB handling.
