Training Programme Director – IMT2 Greater Manchester

About the role
The Training Programme Director will support the Head of School in shaping the strategic direction of the School of Medicine. Based in the Greater Manchester hub, the role leads the development of recruitment and retention strategies and contributes to the School’s operational programme while serving on the School Board.
Key responsibilities
- Run two teaching days per month, with at least one face‑to‑face session and TPD presence.
- Meet out‑of‑sync trainees to plan timetables and oversee training amendments.
- Arrange interim ARCPs and provide robust governance around ARCP processes.
- Lead educator development, especially for new TPDs and educational supervisors.
- Develop and implement recruitment and retention strategies for the School of Medicine.
- Support doctors returning from periods out of training and improve working conditions, including part‑time arrangements.
- Provide a clear point of contact for urgent matters and manage peaks in activity.
Required profile
- Experience in medical education leadership within the NHS.
- Strong understanding of postgraduate training structures and ARCP governance.
- Ability to develop strategic recruitment and retention initiatives.
- Proven track record of collaborative work with senior academic and clinical stakeholders.
- Member of the School Board or equivalent governance experience.
