Transport Manager

About the role

HR GO Recruitment is partnering with a well‑established, growing business in Ormskirk to recruit a Transport Manager. The role is responsible for overseeing the transport operation, ensuring compliance, efficiency and cost‑effectiveness while maintaining high safety and service standards.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and support a team of drivers in a fast‑moving environment.
• Ensure all transport activities meet health & safety and legal compliance requirements.
• Manage day‑to‑day transport planning, scheduling and route optimisation.
• Maintain O Licence compliance and oversee tachograph records and Working Time Directive adherence.
• Coordinate with warehouse and operational departments to support smooth distribution.
• Track and review transport performance indicators, including cost control and delivery targets.
• Investigate incidents, breaches and compliance‑related issues.
• Assist with internal and external audit processes.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Transport Manager.
• Valid CPC National/International qualification (essential).
• Strong knowledge of transport legislation and O Licence obligations.
• Experience managing HGV drivers and transport teams.
• Excellent organisational and communication abilities.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure in a distribution environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Experience with transport management systems.
