Transport Manager

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Transport Manager to lead our transport operations within the environmental services sector. The role involves ensuring safe, compliant and efficient day‑to‑day running of the fleet while supporting a high level of customer service.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, coach and support transport teams, including drivers and operational staff.
• Manage driver compliance, working hours and transport legislation.
• Conduct driver debriefs and performance reviews.
• Monitor fleet compliance, vehicle availability and maximise utilisation.
• Deliver toolbox talks and health & safety initiatives.
• Ensure Operator Licence and FORS compliance.
• Support employee wellbeing and development.
• Drive continuous improvement across transport operations.

Required profile

• Transport Manager CPC (essential).
• Experience in transport, logistics or waste management.
• Strong understanding of Drivers’ Hours and Operator Licence legislation.
• Excellent leadership and communication abilities.
• Full UK driving licence (LGV Class 2 desirable).

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
