Transport Manager

About the role

Mr Plant Hire is seeking a CPC‑qualified Transport Manager to lead compliance, safety and operational performance across its fleet. Based in Enfield, you will report to senior management and be responsible for ensuring all transport activities meet statutory and customer requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Manage, audit and continuously improve transport compliance systems to meet Operator Licence and record‑retention standards.
• Investigate compliance issues, test failures and incidents, identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
• Oversee vehicle and trailer maintenance, ensuring roadworthiness and statutory testing schedules are met.
• Verify driver licences, CPC qualifications and certifications, monitoring compliance via telematics.
• Develop and deliver annual driver training plans and regular safety briefings.
• Plan and optimise transport routes for deliveries and collections.
• Act as the primary contact for customer queries related to transport and delivery.

Required profile

• CPC‑qualified Transport Manager with proven experience in fleet and compliance management.
• Strong knowledge of UK transport legislation and Operator Licence requirements.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a team of drivers.
• Excellent analytical skills for incident investigation and corrective action planning.
