Transport Manager – Logistics Operations

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Transport Manager to lead our transport operation in Chelmsford. You will be responsible for safe, efficient and cost‑effective delivery of products across the UK while ensuring full legal compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the nominated Transport Manager, maintaining Operator Licence, DVSA, drivers’ hours, tachograph and all relevant transport legislation compliance.
• Oversee fleet utilisation, route planning, vehicle maintenance, transport costs and delivery performance.
• Develop and manage drivers and transport staff – recruitment, training, performance reviews and employee engagement.
• Lead the execution of transport plans, meeting SLA’s and KPI’s for the network.
• Manage depot operations, including inspections, servicing, MOTs and future expansion of satellite distribution centres.
• Handle disciplinary, absence and grievance matters in line with company policies.

Required profile

• Valid Transport Manager CPC qualification.
• Proven experience in managing transport fleets and remote depots.
• Strong knowledge of UK transport regulations and compliance requirements.
• Leadership experience with ability to motivate and develop teams.

Required skills

• CPC Transport Manager qualification.
• Understanding of DVSA regulations, tachograph and drivers’ hours legislation.
