Transport Operations Manager

About the role

We are seeking a Transport Operations Manager to lead our fleet and depot activities across the UK and Ireland. Based in Welwyn Garden City, you will ensure compliance with legal standards, optimise vehicle utilisation, and support our global ground‑improvement business.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee vehicle and equipment maintenance, ensuring statutory compliance.
• Manage depot operations, safety standards and HSE/DOT requirements.
• Produce weekly and monthly reports on fleet status and maintenance activities.
• Coordinate with contracts managers, supervisory technicians and the operations team on scheduling and transportation issues.
• Supervise fitters and monitor safety concerns, reporting to the SHEQ Director.
• Maintain injection equipment, tools and associated documentation.

Required profile

• Proven experience in high‑volume fleet management.
• Strong knowledge of transport regulations, Working Time Directive and driver compliance.
• Ability to lead teams, manage change and liaise with senior management.

Required skills

• Transport Manager CPC qualification.
• Full Car and Motorcycle Licence.
• HGV Class C Licence.
• Counterbalance Forklift Truck Licence.
• Reach Forklift Truck Licence.
• First Aider certification.
