Transport Operations Manager

About the role

As Transport Manager, you will be responsible for the day‑to‑day management of the transport function, leading a traffic office team and overseeing approximately 40 drivers. You will play a key part in strengthening operational discipline, improving communication, and driving service performance across the depot.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and develop the traffic office team.
• Oversee daily collections, deliveries, route adherence, and driver allocation.
• Maintain operational discipline and ensure compliance across the fleet.
• Manage driver performance, behaviour, and accountability.
• Work closely with pallet networks.
• Resolve issues quickly and make confident operational decisions.
• Drive improvements across processes, standards, and overall operational culture.

Required profile

• Proven leadership in a traffic office or transport management environment.
• Strong understanding of transport cost control and profit levers.
• Transport planning knowledge and understanding.
• Experience of pallet networks would be preferred however we are flexible on sector background.
• Strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to make decisions under pressure.
