Transport Operations Specialist

About the role

We are seeking a Transport Operations Specialist to manage customer relationships and coordinate day‑to‑day transport operations for a well‑established client in Salford. The role involves acting as the primary point of contact for client accounts and ensuring smooth, efficient service delivery in a fast‑paced environment.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the primary contact for designated client accounts.
• Manage bookings and customer requests, including quotations, tracking, and updates.
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure smooth and efficient service delivery.
• Monitor performance against service levels and key client KPIs.
• Inform customers of any changes, delays, or updates to shipments.
• Handle enquiries, issues, and escalations promptly and professionally.
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients and colleagues.
• Identify opportunities to enhance service delivery and support business growth.
• Assist with onboarding new customers and ensure seamless setup.
• Support client meetings, site visits, and regular communication channels.

Required profile

• Solid understanding of freight forwarding, with road freight knowledge highly desirable.
• Strong communication and customer service abilities.
• Good problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to prioritise workloads and manage time effectively.
• Customer‑focused approach with strong relationship‑building skills.
• Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
