Transport Operator – Container Haulage (London Gateway)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Transport Operator to join a busy and growing container haulage operation at London Gateway. The role involves planning daily transport operations, allocating work to drivers, liaising with customers and drivers, and ensuring deliveries are completed safely, efficiently and on time.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and schedule daily transport operations for container movements.
• Allocate work to drivers and monitor progress.
• Liaise with customers and drivers to coordinate deliveries.
• Ensure deliveries are completed safely, efficiently and on schedule.
• Participate in a shared weekend and Bank Holiday on‑call rota.

Required profile

• Previous UK container haulage experience (essential).
• Experience with the London Gateway Vehicle Booking System (VBS) (highly desirable).
• Knowledge of Fargo TOPS or a similar Transport Management System.
• Strong organisational and communication abilities.
• Good IT proficiency, including Outlook and Excel.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
• Desirable: Transport Manager CPC qualification and knowledge of UK drivers’ hours and transport compliance.
