Transport Planner – Co‑ordinator (Container Haulage)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Transport Planner – Co‑ordinator to join a fast‑growing container haulage operation at London Gateway. In this role you will be at the heart of daily transport activities, ensuring containers move efficiently across the UK while maintaining high service standards.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate daily container transport activities across the UK.
• Optimise vehicle utilisation and manage driver schedules.
• Communicate with drivers, customers, port authorities and internal teams.
• Monitor vehicle movements and resolve operational issues proactively.
• Manage container bookings using the London Gateway Vehicle Booking System (VBS).
• Maintain accurate transport records in various operating systems.
• Ensure deliveries and collections are completed safely, efficiently and on time.
• Support compliance with transport legislation, company procedures and industry regulations.
• Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and customer service.

Required profile

• Previous experience within the UK container haulage industry.
• Strong planning, organisation and workload‑management abilities.
• Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.
• Proactive decision‑making under pressure.
• Ability to work effectively in a busy, fast‑moving transport environment.

What we offer

• Competitive salary £30,000 – £40,000 per year, dependent on experience.
• Fixed 10‑hour shifts (4:00 am‑2:00 pm or 8:00 am‑6:00 pm) Monday‑Friday.
• Shared weekend and Bank Holiday on‑call rota.
• Permanent full‑time contract within a growing logistics business.
