Transport Planner

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Transport Planner to join our reputable client in Salford. The role focuses on managing customer accounts, coordinating freight movements and ensuring high‑quality service delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the primary contact for assigned customer accounts, handling bookings, quotations and status updates.
• Coordinate with internal departments to maintain service level agreements and client KPIs.
• Proactively communicate shipment status, service changes or delays to clients.
• Resolve enquiries, complaints and escalations promptly and professionally.
• Develop and sustain long‑term relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Identify opportunities for service improvement and business growth.
• Support onboarding of new clients and facilitate smooth transitions.
• Participate in customer site visits, team meetings and regular telephone communications.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of freight forwarding, with particular knowledge of road freight.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and problem‑solving abilities.
• Ability to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively.
• Customer‑centric mindset focused on relationship management.
• Capability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
