Transport Planner – Temp to Perm

About the role

We are seeking a detail‑oriented Transport Planner to join our client’s team in Staines‑upon‑Thames. The role starts as a temporary assignment with the aim of becoming permanent, offering the chance to shape transport operations and deliver high‑quality service to customers.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure deliveries and collections meet customer expectations with professionalism.
• Collaborate with Branch Managers to develop forward‑thinking transport strategies.
• Utilise the company’s routing system to optimise route efficiency.
• Identify process‑improvement opportunities across resources and procedures.
• Work with Transport Controllers to manage compliance issues.
• Drive cost savings on fuel, agency drivers and other transport‑related expenses.
• Communicate proactively with Branch Managers and Sales on new site openings and high‑volume collections.

Required profile

• Proven experience in transport planning, preferably managing a fleet of up to 20 vehicles with 6‑15 stops per day.
• Strong knowledge of London postcodes and the South East road network.
• Familiarity with van and lorry capabilities and vehicle compliance (PMI, MOT, tail‑lift inspections).
• Ability to create and adjust vehicle schedules based on business needs.
• Well‑organised, detail‑conscious and flexible, with a valid driving licence (desirable).
