Transport Shift Manager, Nights

About the role

Join GXO Logistics as a Transport Shift Manager for the night shift, overseeing safe and compliant deliveries from 22:00 to 06:00. You will lead a team of drivers, manage resources, and ensure high‑quality customer service throughout the night operation.

Key responsibilities

• Lead night‑time transport operations, monitoring deliveries, replanning routes and handling issues in real time.
• Maintain full health, safety and legal compliance with H&S legislation, DVSA, Operator Licence, tachograph and working‑time regulations.
• Provide people leadership – motivate drivers, manage attendance, performance, disciplinary and grievance processes.
• Optimise utilisation of drivers, vehicles, trailers and equipment, and coordinate maintenance escalations.
• Drive efficiency initiatives such as fuel optimisation, damage reduction and cost control.

Required profile

• Proven supervisory experience in a transport environment.
• Strong knowledge of UK transport legislation, compliance standards and health & safety requirements.
• Excellent organisational, communication and problem‑solving abilities.

Required skills

• Knowledge of UK transport legislation and compliance (DVSA, tachograph, Operator Licence).
