Tree Inspector

About the role

The Tree Inspector will join the County Council's Tree and Woodland Team to carry out systematic inspections of public trees and woodlands across Northumberland. This 12‑month fixed‑term position involves identifying safety issues, generating work requests and maintaining accurate records.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct proactive inspections of Council‑owned trees and woodland sites.
• Identify hazards that could compromise public safety and recommend remedial actions.
• Prepare detailed work requests for internal Tree Teams or external arboricultural contractors.
• Maintain up‑to‑date inspection records, progress reports and risk assessments.
• Travel independently to inspection sites throughout Northumberland.

Required profile

• Professional Tree Inspection Certificate (LANTRA or equivalent).
• Certificate in Arboriculture Level 4 or comparable horticultural qualification.
• Strong knowledge of tree identification, pests, diseases, biology and hazard assessment.
• Familiarity with industry risk standards such as QTRA and THREATS.
• Valid UK driving licence and experience working independently on field sites.
