Trust Doctor – Anaesthetics (ST3)

About the role

The Anaesthetic Department at QEQM Hospital is seeking a dynamic Trust Doctor (ST3) to join a dedicated team of clinicians. You will work across a wide range of elective and emergency surgical specialties, supporting both the intensive therapy unit (ITU) and peri‑operative patient management.

Key responsibilities

• Provide anaesthetic care for elective and emergency surgeries in a 5‑theatre main operating suite and multiple day‑surgery, endovascular, ophthalmic and orthopaedic theatres.
• Support the ITU and manage peri‑operative care for a diverse surgical caseload.
• Maintain liaison and communication with all medical and service departments within the hospital and with external hospitals.
• Participate in on‑call duties on a 1‑in‑8 rota, covering theatre emergencies and ITU responsibilities.
• Contribute to the delivery of anaesthetic services for the MRI suite and endoscopy unit.

Required profile

• Fully qualified doctor currently in ST3 anaesthetic training.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced, multidisciplinary environment.
• Strong communication skills for effective liaison with clinical teams and external services.
• Commitment to a 48‑hour work week and on‑call responsibilities.

Required skills

• Proficiency in delivering anaesthetic care across a variety of surgical specialties.
• Experience with peri‑operative patient management and ITU support.
• Competence in operating theatre anaesthetic equipment and monitoring systems.
