Trust Doctor (ST3+) – General Surgery (6‑month contract)

About the role

The Trust Doctor (equivalent to ST3+) will join the General Surgery team at Whipps Cross Hospital for a six‑month fixed‑term placement. Working as a registrar under the supervision of a consultant, the role provides hands‑on experience in both elective and emergency surgical care within a busy NHS environment.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver inpatient elective and emergency surgical care, including pre‑operative assessment and post‑operative management.
• Run outpatient clinics and contribute to patient follow‑up pathways.
• Assist in elective theatre sessions, supporting consultants and junior staff.
• Participate in on‑call duties, providing acute surgical coverage.
• Collaborate with Upper GI and colorectal teams when opportunities arise.

Required profile

• Current or completed ST3+ level training in General Surgery.
• Previous experience working within the NHS.
• Commitment to a surgical career and willingness to undertake additional responsibilities.
• Eligibility to work in the UK.
