Tutor for SEN/SEMH Students (Winchester)

About the role

Prospero Teaching is seeking compassionate tutors to support young people in Winchester and surrounding areas. You will work one‑to‑one with secondary‑aged learners who have Special Educational Needs (SEN) and/or Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, helping them re‑engage with education and reach their potential.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and deliver engaging 1:1 tuition sessions tailored to each learner.
• Assess and monitor student progress, providing constructive feedback.
• Record attendance, progress and weekly reports.
• Maintain a calm, fair and adaptable classroom environment.
• Collaborate with the team to ensure consistent support for SEN/SEMH pupils.

Required profile

• Nurturing, caring nature with patience and empathy.
• Understanding of the National Curriculum.
• Experience (minimum 6 months) working with learners with SEN/SEMH needs.
• Right to work in the UK and willingness to obtain an enhanced DBS check.

Required skills

• Ability to teach English, Maths and optionally Science to secondary pupils.
• Strong organisational and record‑keeping skills.
